The deal
Storm Buckets is Canadian-hosted, S3-compatible object storage built on Garage. It is in alpha. That means it works, the path is real, and we are not done.
We need it used before we charge for it. So we run a feedback bounty for the founding cohort: a standing list of things worth doing in the product, each one worth permanent storage when you complete it. You are early, the cohort is small, and the storage you earn now is grandfathered to your account for life.
How it works
The bounties are always open. There is no weekly allotment to race for and nothing to claim before someone else does. Pick anything on the list, do it, and report what happened.
Every Friday we review what came in, award the storage, and post what got fixed. Friday is when bounties pay out, not when they open.
A bounty pays when it comes from doing something in the product. "Here are my general thoughts" is welcome but does not earn a boost. "Here is the friction I hit moving data in, and the docs were wrong on step 3" does.
The bounties
These are examples, and the list is open: anything you do in the product that we find useful can earn a bounty. Padding the count does not. A pile of vague or duplicate reports counts as one submission, and feedback with nothing behind it earns nothing.
Move a copy of real data in with rclone and report what tripped you up.
Point a static site at Storm Sites and tell us where the setup confused you.
Run the migration guide against a throwaway bucket and tell us where the docs lied.
Throw a large pile of files at a bucket and try to break the listing or delete path. Tell us what you broke.
Rotate a key, attach an account key, or claim admin on a bucket, and report anything that did not behave.
Point at one screen that looked unfinished and say why.
File a real bug, a doc correction, or a "this confused me" with the steps to reproduce it, and it counts.
The reward
Accepted bounties add storage to your Founding Alpha grant, and each one you complete is worth more than the last. First accepted bounty, +10 GB. Second, +20 GB. Third, +30 GB. It keeps climbing the more you come back, and the program runs through the alpha.
The storage is permanent. It stays grandfathered to your account after the alpha ends, the same as your founding 100 GB.
