Canadian cloud storage in Montreal

montreal-1 is a new storage server in Montreal that Storm runs from top to bottom, and the first place you can buy Storm Buckets space. You pay for space in 1 TB blocks at one flat price, so you know next month's bill before it arrives. Downloads are never billed. Past three times your storage, they slow down instead. Add more blocks as you grow.

Why we built it

Canadians need simple sovereign storage, priced in their own currency and run by companies they can name. The alpha proved the platform works, and it was always going to stay unbilled, so selling storage needed a server of its own. montreal-1 is that server.

You can check who runs it. The where your data lives page names the hardware provider, the data centre and who owns each, and the status page shows how much of the time it has been up.

How to get space on montreal-1

Sign up or sign in, then open Request space. Save your billing details, pick montreal-1, and choose how many blocks and for how many months. Storm emails you an invoice, and the space shows up on your account once it's paid. Nothing is charged until you pay.

S3-compatible, so your tools already work

Create a bucket from the dashboard, then upload, browse and download your files right from your browser, with no software to install. If you already use backup or file software, it can connect too. montreal-1 works with S3, the common connection most backup tools, file sync apps and developer tools already support, so you keep the tools you know and Storm holds the files. Create a key for the bucket, and the connection guide has the settings for each tool. Moving an existing backup over is a change of settings, and your files stay in Canadian cloud storage you can check.

Thank you, alpha testers

Everyone who tested the alpha made montreal-1 possible. You uploaded real files, found the friction, sent feedback, and waited while the fixes landed, and the platform is sturdier and more polished because of it.

The alpha stays open. The space you were granted there is yours to keep and is never billed, and the alpha keeps getting every update before montreal-1 does.
